East Grinstead Community Shredding Day delivers impressive results

EGBA member S4B Group’s Community Shredding Day on 10 October 2026 was a great success, bringing local residents and businesses together to dispose of confidential paperwork securely and learn more about responsible recycling.

The event saw an impressive 2,465 kg of paper shredded and 374 kg of equipment taken in, demonstrating the value of accessible local services that help residents manage unwanted documents and equipment responsibly.

Equally encouraging, by diverting the paper from landfill or incineration gives environmental benefits. The reported savings of 6,532 litres of water are equivalent to approximately 80 baths, while 986 kWh of electricity saved could power a typical UK household for almost five months.

The event also achieved a reported carbon reduction of 100 kg of CO₂ approximately equivalent to driving a typical petrol car for 350–400 miles. The figures also included an environmental benefit equivalent to four trees.

Visitors enjoyed seeing the shredder in action showcasing S4B Group’s services, helping visitors understand first-hand how confidential materials are handled.

S4B Group thanks everyone who attended and supported the event. Residents and businesses can contact S4B Group to find out more about its secure document shredding, archive storage, IT equipment destruction and recycling services.
