Exciting new era begins for The Atrium Cinema

The refurbishment will bring enhanced seating, in-seat food & drinks service, and the only cinema screen in the UK to combine Dolby Vision and Atmos to create a truly immersive experience!

Exciting changes are coming for EGBA member, The Atrium Cinema, East Grinstead. Work has officially begun on the cinema’s biggest refurbishment since it opened in 1995, with a vision to create a welcoming, modern space where the local community can come together to relax, socialise and enjoy great films.

East Grinstead resident and cinema owner Kevin Markwick, is bringing the experience and success of his family-run cinema, The Picture House Uckfield, to the town he proudly now calls home.  Cinema has always been part of Kevin’s life. His parents took over The Picture House Uckfield when he was just two years old, and over the years the family has continually invested in the cinema, ensuring it has evolved with changing audiences while always retaining its friendly, independent character. Kevin is now excited to bring that same passion, care and commitment to The Atrium.

The investment marks more than just an upgrade to a cinema – it’s an investment in East Grinstead itself. The Atrium is being reimagined as a place for the whole community: somewhere families can make memories, friends can catch up, film lovers can experience the latest releases, and everyone can enjoy a warm welcome.

The future of The Atrium Cinema is about more than watching films, it’s about bringing people together and creating a cinema that East Grinstead can proudly call its own.
