November networking event – let’s talk about Gatwick

The East Grinstead Business Association hosted a thought-provoking and informative November networking event at Chequer Mead, with Richard Lennard (pictured right), economic partnerships manager at London Gatwick as our guest speaker.

Richard took us through the latest developments at the airport, including innovative ways they are mitigating the carbon impact of ground operations (use of alternative fuels, including hydrogen), and the positive economic impact of the airport (Over £4bn GVA* in the region, supporting over 56,000 jobs). He went on to explain the potential if the Northern Runway Project is given the ‘green light’ and the launch of the Gatwick Region Airport Economic Zone.

He then took wide-ranging questions from the audience which covered aspects of noise and congestion, the impact of airline movements on Net Zero/climate change, the effect of AI on jobs, and transport/access issues for the region.

Richard encouraged any small and medium-sized local businesses who were interested in being potential suppliers to London Gatwick to register their interest via the form and information linked HERE.
