Introducing EGBA’s new Social Media Lead: Hannah Martell

The East Grinstead Business Association (EGBA) is delighted to introduce Hannah Martell, who has recently taken on responsibility for managing EGBA’s social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok and LinkedIn. Her focus is to increase EGBA’s online visibility, boost engagement and promote the wide range of fantastic businesses within the community.
Alongside her work with EGBA, Hannah is an Accounts Assistant and Marketing Executive at Martell’s, a respected family-run business with a history spanning more than 100 years. Hannah proudly represents the fifth generation of her family to be involved in the company.
Martell’s was founded in 1917 at Elephant and Castle in South East London, before relocating to Sutton in 1923. The removals division began in the 1930s, and a second retail branch opened in East Grinstead in 1954. Today, all operations are based in East Grinstead, where the company continues to serve the community.
The retail side of the business now focuses on toys and gifts, creating a friendly and community-focused shopping experience. Meanwhile, Martell’s International Removals provides both domestic and commercial removal services locally, nationally and internationally, supported by secure local storage facilities.
Hannah first began working for the business at just 13 years old, serving customers in the shop on Saturdays and during school holidays. Since then, she has gained experience across every part of the company – from working on the shop floor to going out on removals and learning how estimates and quotations are prepared. This hands-on involvement has given her a unique and thorough understanding of the business from the ground up.
More recently, Hannah joined BAR Young Movers, a national group supporting young professionals in the removals industry, and attended the Young Movers Conference in York this year, representing Martell’s and gaining valuable industry insight.
Hannah attended Imberhorne School from 2016 to 2020, and her deep roots in a multi-generational business have shaped her passion for local enterprise and community collaboration.
Hannah says:
“EGBA is a brilliant platform for both new and long-established businesses. It brings people together, encourages collaboration and helps build meaningful connections. Social media is such a powerful tool, and I’m excited to help East Grinstead businesses grow, connect and shine online.”
